Once you have incorporated, corporate registry needs to know, once a year, if you are still in business and if you have had any changes to the directors or shareholders of your business.  Thus they require you to file an Annual Return.  

If you do not file an Annual Return for 2 years, they have the power to strike your company from the corporate registry.  If this happens, then it will take almost as much work to revive it as it did to incorporate it.  Therefore, filing your annual returns once a year is very important.
